FAQs - Frequently Asked Questions about Walt Disney World

How early should you plan a Disney vacation?
Ideally, at least 120 days in advance, but you will find the best availability if you look even further ahead.  Most people book their trip at least 6-9 months out.  We break down the planning in just 7 steps for you!
Do you charge planning fees for Disney World?
No, we do not charge planning fees as long as you book your Walt Disney World hotel + ticket package with us.  If you already have accommodations or arrangements made, a fee may apply, but we will be upfront about it.  If you recently booked your trip yourself and realize you need help planning, we may be able to be added as your travel agent of record.  (Read more about adding us to your reservation.)
How does booking with Magic Expeditions differ from booking it myself?
The pricing will be the same, but you will gain an expert guide (that's us!) walking you through the entire planning process.  We save you time, we remove the research stress, and we prevent you from making a rookie mistake.  We can also help with things like making dining reservations and airport transportation arrangements.  You have a personalized resource just an email or phone call away.  Even if you are a seasoned Disney vacationer, we can keep you informed of important changes and be on-call in case of emergencies.
Should I stay at a WALT Disney World resort or off-property?
We highly recommend staying on-site.  There are MAJOR perks to staying at a Walt Disney World resort hotel such as earlier park entry, low vacation deposit required, better access to coveted dining reservations, and more.  If you have to stay off-site, make sure you know what you are giving up with that choice.
What’s the best age to take kids to Disney World?
The best age to take your kids to Walt Disney World is ANY age.  This sounds cliche, but every age holds a different kind of magic.  Children age 2 and under are FREE.  Young children ages 3-8 will be enamored with the magic and you will never forget their little faces when they meet their favorite character.  Older kids will have a blast riding everything, trying new foods, and staying up later!  Even teens and young adults will be thrilled to take on rollercoasters, watch amazing fireworks, and feel the magic.
Do I need Lightning Lanes?
The Lightning Lane allows you to skip the standard standby queue and hop in a shorter line (with typically a 5-10 minute wait time max).  The name has changed over the years (FastPass, Genie+, Lightning Lane Multi Pass), but our advice has remained the same.  We do recommend purchasing Lightning Lanes to get more done in your day and wait in fewer lines.
What’s the difference between Value, Moderate, and Deluxe resorts?
Walt Disney World Resorts are divided into these categories.  As you move from Value to Moderate to Deluxe resorts, you gain larger room sizes, better amenities, more elaborate pools/resort grounds, and (often) closer proximity to the theme parks.  There are SO MANY resorts to choose from and no one-size-fits-all for families.  Click here for more details on the Disney resort categories.
How many days do you need for Walt Disney World?
Most people plan a week-long stay at Walt Disney World with 4 or 5 days of theme park tickets.  Every family is different, however.  Our advice depends on your goals for the trip.  We always like to start with having a quick phone conversation to make sure we are designing the right trip for you.
