![]() Rider Switch is the system that Walt Disney World Resort in Florida and the Disneyland Resort in California use for groups with children that don’t meet an attraction’s height requirement or guests that do not want to ride. When utilizing Rider Switch, one adult can stay back to supervise non-riders while the rest of the party experiences the attraction. Then, the parties will switch roles so the supervising adult can enjoy the attraction without having to wait in line again. Using Rider Switch is free and easy.
Steps to Use Rider Switch Program:
Is Rider Switch ok if my child is just too scared to ride? If your child is too afraid to ride the attraction, even if they meet the height requirement, you can still use Rider Switch! A Practical Example Let’s take the example of a family of five at Walt Disney World. Traveling Party: Mom, Dad, Boy (age 8), Girl (age 6), and Baby (age 9 months). Mom and Dad both want to ride Space Mountain with the two older kids. All five approach the entrance to Space Mountain and speak with the Cast Member to ask for Rider Switch. Cast Member will scan Dad’s MagicBand, plus Boy & Girl. Mom will then ride first with the older two. Dad will wait just outside the attraction with Baby. After Mom, Boy, and Girl have finished riding, they will find Dad waiting outside. Dad will hand Baby to Mom, and then Dad and two older children will return to the Lightning Lane line for Space Mountain to have their MagicBands scanned by the Cast Member. Once scanned, this second group can enter the queue and ride! Download our FREE PDF Guide: THE TOP FIVE THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE YOU BOOK A WALT DISNEY WORLD VACATION.
