Do my kids need a stroller at Disney?

3/10/2021

Does my child need a stroller at Disney

If you are torn about bringing a stroller on your Walt Disney World vacation, here's some food for thought.
Your child may be full of energy and great at keeping up with you when you run errands in your local area.  Perhaps your little one used to love their stroller but has not sat in it for over a year. Every child is different, and you know your child best!

For kids under age 8, consider a stroller.
Most kids are ready to ditch the stroller by the time they hit preschool – if not before! However, a Walt Disney World vacation will require a LOT of walking.

It is not unusual to walk several miles each day you are in one of the theme parks. Considering most families visit the theme parks for many consecutive days, kids can get very worn out trying to keep up with adults. It also provides a spot for the kids to grab a power nap if they are tired.

As a bonus, it can be a convenient way to carry your family’s extra stuff (water bottles, snacks, souvenirs, jackets in the winter, etc.)!

When should I stop using a stroller at Disney?
Each family should evaluate their children to answer this question. Strollers do have weight limits on them, and at some point, the kids may get too heavy to push around. We recommend families with children age eight and under at least consider bringing a stroller from home or renting one.

What else do I need to know about strollers?
  • TRANSPORTATION: When using Walt Disney World bus transportation, you will need to fold or collapse your strollers (even if the little ones are asleep). When riding the Skyliner or Monorail, you may be able to wheel your stroller on and keep the kids in it – depending on the size of your stroller.
  • SIZE LIMITS:  Disney does have restrictions on the size of a stroller you can bring into the park. While most single and double strollers fit within the guidelines, always check Disney’s current limits.
  • STROLLER PARKING:  When you want to enjoy an attraction, you will need to park your stroller in a designated stroller parking area of the theme parks. These areas are located all over each park and are never far away from most attractions.
